The program will include updates on the latest technology developments in forages. Topics of discussion include new varieties of alfalfa, grasses and emergency forage crops; new developments in breeding quality traits in alfalfa such as low lignin, bloat-free alfalfa and flexibility in harvest maturity; updates on Roundup Ready alfalfa; and the economics of forage fertilization.
Livestock producers may be interested in sessions on forages for feeding high-producing cows, pasture management practices for increased profits and using robotic milking systems in Michigan.
The conference will also host forage industry exhibitors.
Registration is $30 per person for Forage Council members or $35 per person for non-members. The cost covers program registration, a CD-ROM of the proceedings, lunch and snacks.
