Published on 17 September 2019

According to a recent online poll, most forage producers prefer to wait for new technologies to become cost-effective or until they know more about how things work before they will invest in them.

In a recent online poll, Progressive Forage asked readers, "What would it take for you to invest in newer technologies?"

In answering the multiple-selection question, 30.9% indicated a cost analysis to determine profitability as the most important inducement to invest in new tech. Coming in second at 21.7% was more education about the technology. The third most-selected option at 17.5% was "finding a way to pass on the cost to my customers/buyers."

The rest of the options included "Someone more tech-savvy to set it up and teach me to use it," "Data control guarantee," "I won't use it even if it's free," and "Someone else running it," with selection percentages of 14.4%, 9.3%, 3.6% and 2.6%, respectively. end mark
