Hendrix joins editorial team at Progressive Publishing

Published on 08 June 2018

Joy HendrixJoy Hendrix has joined the Progressive Publishing team for the summer and will be working with the Progressive Forage and Progressive Cattleman teams as an editorial intern.

Hendrix is a senior at Oklahoma State University studying agribusiness and agricultural communications. At Oklahoma State, she serves as the president of the Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlewomen, is a member of the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and a member of the Aggie-X club. She also holds a part-time job with the county government official training program.

“I was impressed with Joy the first time I met her at National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Convention in Phoenix. Joy has natural leadership qualities, experience in agriculture and enthusiasm for agricultural journalism,” says Lynn Jaynes, managing editor of Progressive Forage. “Readers of Progressive Forage and Progressive Cattleman can expect to see Joy’s coverage of events, producer features and topical articles beginning in the fall."

Hendrix grew up in southeastern New Mexico on her family’s farm and ranch. She says her passion for the industry comes from years of witnessing the people in the industry at work and her experiences throughout 4-H and FFA.

“Writing for Progressive Publishing will allow me to combine my agricultural background with the skills I have learned in college classes,” says Hendrix. “I’m looking forward to gaining experience and continuing to improve my writing and editorial skills.”

Hendrix says this opportunity would not be possible without the support of her family, professors at Oklahoma State University and the staff at Progressive Publishing.

“My entire life I have been astounded by the work ethic and commitment of the people in the agricultural industry,” says Hendrix. “My career goal is to become a positive advocate for the industry by telling the stories of the people I admire most.”

Progressive Publishing offers internships to qualified students throughout the year. More information about the program can be found at the Progressive Publishing website.  end mark
