Media and industry representatives were given a tour of the various displays showing the high-tech science of farming, future demands and career opportunities in agriculture.

Joined by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, they hosted a live broadcast titled ‘Fields of the Future’ which focused on the importance of taking the conversation about food and agriculture beyond the field.

After touring the exhibit and viewing the broadcast, key points presented included:

•  is a progressive and high-tech industry in need of new people in nearly every career discipline.
  
  
• There will be great demands placed on farming in the near future as population grows and land resources decrease.
  
  
• Agriculture needs to be pushed beyond the field and entrepreneurs of the upcoming generations need to be recruited.
