Also, stocking such a field heavily will result in close grazing of any existing plants, which can greatly reduce competition for the young seedlings. Once the young plants have emerged, the stocking rate may need to be reduced to keep animals from trampling or pulling up the seedlings.
Good grazing management can keep the forage grazed closely enough to prevent shading of seedlings.
