Who makes the seed decision?

In another set of questions, producers were asked about decision-making processes.

They were asked to select a response indicating how purchase decisions were made, choosing from these responses: made by me with very little input, made by me after discussion with family and/or employees, made by the person responsible for using the item after discussion with others on the farm, made by the person responsible for the item with little input from others, or made by a purchasing agent hired by the farm.

Only seed purchase decisions were found to have significant differences between the segments. Specifically, price buyers were more likely to make decisions with little input from others, whereas those prioritizing seed performance relied on purchasing agents more than other segments. The balance of producers relied on family more than others.  FG
